He is facing two felony charges of child endangerment as well as a charge of driving on a suspended license.

Police had previously arrested two suspects in the shooting.

On August 30, police identified the suspects arrested as 19-year-old Ahmari Cabrera and 26-year-old Shaheem Nathaniel.

They were facing "felony assault and various firearm charges” until Ny'Eil Sophia Kelley Pires passed away, at which time the charges were changed to murder.

"Our primary responsibility as police officers is to ensure the safety of all individuals, especially vulnerable children who cannot protect themselves," said Providence Police Colonel Oscar Perez on Wednesday.

"The charges brought forth reflect our commitment to upholding the law and holding individuals accountable when their actions put others at risk," he added, "We take these matters very seriously and will continue to work with the RI Attorney General's Office to ensure that justice is served."
