Man Attacked by “Multiple Assailants” and Beaten With Skateboard in Providence

A man was reportedly beaten with a skateboard by a male suspect during a fight in Providence on Wednesday evening. 

The incident happened in the Washington Park neighborhood of the city.

Police were called to the area of Narragansett Boulevard and California Avenue shortly before 7 PM on Wednesday for a report of a disturbance. 

Witnesses told police that a fight between multiple people had just occurred at the corner of the location, and that there was a male victim in the area covered in blood. 

Officers said they located the victim - a male in his 30s - a short while later. 

According to police, the victim's face was blooded and he had visible injuries to his eye and nose; rescue was called to the scene. 

The victim told police he had been going to the corner store when he got into a verbal argument with a male and a female.

He said the altercation turned physical and the male began beating him with his skateboard. 

The victim told police that additional suspects who had been in a car then joined the assault. 

The suspects reportedly then fled the area; detectives are currently investigating.
