About Incident

Shortly after 2 AM on Sunday, Providence Police were called to the parking lot of Walmart across from Club Mezzo on Charles Street street for a report of shots fired.

Police said they first met with a victim - a male in his 20s - who said his car had been shot into in the Walmart parking lot, which police said is used for Mezzo Lounge across the street.

According to police, when officers responded, there were approximately 100 individuals gathered in the parking lot.

While police were investigating, they said they met with another victim who said his car vehicle also had a bullet hole.

Witnesses told police they saw a fight break out in the Walmart parking lot and then heard shots fired.

Police said multiple shell casings were located at the scene and processed by detectives.

A third vehicle tied to the location was later found to have bullet holes in its exterior.

The Board of Licenses ordered an immediate 72-hour closure of Club Mezzo on Sunday.
