National Weather Service: Expected Snow Fall Forecast Increased to 8-12 Inches

The National Weather Service has updated its forecast for the storm that is expected to hit Rhode Island on Monday night and Tuesday.

At 5:00 AM on Monday, the National Weather Service significantly increased its expected snowfall for Rhode Island.

And a second storm is forming, which may bring more snow on Thursday, according to the NWS.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

 

Monday Night
There is a chance of rain after 3 am, mixing with snow after 5 am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 32. Light and variable wind becoming northeast 5 to 10 mph after midnight. The chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

 

Tuesday
Snow, possibly mixed with rain, becomes all snow after 11 am. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 35. Breezy, with a northeast wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches is possible.
