Providence Police have identified the victim of the latest homicide in the city.

Police identified Michael Ames, age 57, as the person found deceased in a residence on Westminster Street Wednesday morning.

A suspect has been taken into custody, according to police.

Police say more information on the name and charges the subject faces will be forthcoming.

A body was found in a home in Providence on Wednesday morning, GoLocal has learned.

The deceased male was discovered in a residence on Westminster Street and law enforcement responded to the scene.

"We are treating it as a homicide investigation," said Providence Detectives Major David Lapatin when reached by GoLocal.
