A Providence pharmacy was robbed of an undisclosed amount of opioids on Monday morning, according to police. 

It marks the second armed robbery of a pharmacy in Providence for opioids in less than a week.

About Incident

Shortly before 9:30 AM on Monday, Providence police responded to the Walgreens on Atwells Avenue for a report of a robbery.

Witnesses told police a suspect — armed with a gun — came behind the pharmacy counter. 

The suspect demanded opioids and reportedly fled with an undisclosed amount.

Providence police reported they were investigating a report of an armed man who reportedly robbed a pharmacy in the city on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 9. 

According to police, that robbery took place at AJ Pharmacy at 1017 Smith Street in Providence. 

Police say witnesses told them the suspect came into the store, went behind the counter, and with a gun, ordered everyone into a back room. 

The suspect then reportedly demanded opioids, and was given an undisclosed amount before fleeing the store.
