Store Employee Pistol-Whipped in Providence During Armed Robbery

A sneaker store was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon, and an employee was assaulted.

It marked the latest episode of violence in the city this week which also saw two people shot in two days

About Incident 

Shortly after 4 PM on Thursday, a man reportedly walked into the Snipes sneaker store on Reservoir Avenue, flashed a gun, and demanded all the money in the register.

An employee was allegedly struck in the head with the gun multiple times. 

The suspect — which police say was described as a "black male subject approximately 5'7" tall, with an average build and in his early to mid-thirties" — then fled the store. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
