About Incident — and Arrest
On July 10, a man in his late-20 was shot on Francis Street in front of the hotel, shortly after 1 PM.
According to the victim — who resides in Massachusetts — he was returning his two-year-old child to the child’s mother, who lives in Connecticut, as part of their custody arrangement.
When the victim met up with the child’s mother, he said an argument took place, and the front seat passenger in the woman's car pulled out a gun and shot him.
The victim said when he went to flee, a passenger in the backseat got out and fired a gun at him as well; he was hit in the calf and ankle and was treated at Rhode Island Hospital. The child was not injured.
Detectives said they were able to identify both shooters as Jim Peterson Durandisse, age 24, and Karljaphey Theodore, age 23, both of Norwich, Connecticut.
Arrest warrants were issued for felony assault and possession of a firearm without a license.
According to police, Druandisse and Theodore were apprehended by Norwich Police Department Thursday night.
A firearm was located in the vehicle at the time Norwich Police arrested them. Police say they are awaiting extradition proceedings.
