Violent Night in Providence - Man Shot Multiple Times, Man Carjacked at Gunpoint

A man was shot multiple times in Providence overnight, and a man reported being the victim of an armed carjacking in a separate incident in the city.

According to Providence Police, officers were called to Rhode Island Hospital shortly before 11 PM on Wednesday for a report of a shooting victim.

The victim - a male in his 20s - was being treated in the emergency room for multiple gunshot wounds. 

He told police he had left his job on Cranston Street and was walking on Union Avenue when he was approached by an unknown male who "demanded everything" he had.

The victim said he tried to flee, at which time he was shot multiple times. 

He is currently being treated for his injuries. 

 

Carjacking

Shortly after midnight, police were called to Whitford Avenue in the Elmhurst section of the city for a report of a carjacking. 

The victim - a male in his 20s - told police he had pulled over to have a phone conversation, when a man approached his vehicle. 

He said the suspect, who was wearing a black ski mask, had a gun and ordered him out of his car.

The victim said he exited his vehicle and called police. 

Police said they then put out a description of the stolen vehicle.
