Democratic Men Have Perfect Record

Rhode Island was the last of the original thirteen colonies to ratify the United States Constitution, doing so on May 29, 1790. When it joined the Union, it gained representation in the United States Congress.

Benjamin Bourne was the first Congressman from Rhode Island. He served from March 4, 1790, until he resigned on August 24, 1796, to accept a judicial position.

The streak conditions -- no Democratic woman has ever served in Congress from Rhode Island in the bluest of blue states.

The Democratic Ballot - 12 Candidates

It is hard to remember a Rhode Island election in which there were so many candidates.

There are 12 Democratic candidates (one has withdrawn but remains on the ballot -- Don Carlson).

It is plausible, maybe likely, that the winner of the Democratic primary will win with less than 30% of the vote.

Overall turnout is expected to be below 40,000 votes in the Democratic primary, thus, a tiny, tiny fraction of the population will determine the outcome.

The GOP ballot includes just two candidates:

1 Year Term -- Then Another Race Starts All Over Again

Whoever wins the first congressional seat will be gearing up immediately.

The seat will be up for again in the 2024 election cycle again.
