Guest MINDSETTER™ Lawton: Mattiello is Steering State Down Dangerous Road

As someone finding my way in the political arena I have to say it has been an eye opener watching the rhetoric between opponents.

In the past two weeks I have watched Nicholas Mattiello be called upon to take action in regards to the Carnavale case and the 38 Studios investigation. Mattiello’s responses are well scripted and his reaction time is quicker than I've seen in years. It must be election time… Mattiello has not and will not change for the hardworking people of district 15 or the State of RI. Nicholas Mattiello is steering our state down a dangerous road and is not working to alleviate the problems that affect our everyday lives. It seems that if you’re politically connected or a contributor, your opponent listens, but if you are just an average person in his district, don’t expect a response. 

It’s entertaining to watch the dance with words. But, at the end of the day it is just empty words. The calls to action and the well-crafted responses are another example of “Politics as usual” in this state. I am not okay with “Politics as usual”. I have seen first-hand that the decisions being made in our General Assembly are not in the best interest of Rhode Islanders.

We need people in office who are committed to taking real action to improve our state rather than offering up empty words. The people of District 15 deserve an honest voice advocating for them. When elected, I will advocate for the people of District 15.
