Zelensky Asked Congress to Support a No-Fly Zone, Three RI CD2 Candidates Take a Stance

In Rhode Island, there are now ten candidates vying for the second congressional district seat, but only three of them would take a stance.
"To create a no-fly zone over Ukraine to save people, is this too much to ask?" Zelensky said.

You know they exist and you have them, but they are on Earth not in the Ukrainian sky."
"I need to protect our sky," he said.

But, in Rhode Island, only three of the Democrats were willing to go on the record and take a stance.
“Treasurer Magaziner supports the strongest possible economic and diplomatic sanctions on Russia and continued humanitarian and military aid for Ukraine, but shares the concerns of most national security experts that a no-fly zone would bring American military into direct engagements with Russian military and therefore is not a prudent step at this time,” said Patricia Socarras, spokeswoman for Magaziner.
Michael Neary. a political consultant from Coventry who is running for the open second congressional district seat too told GoLocal, "I do not support a no-fly zone at this time however it should not be ruled out completely. I do believe we need to continue to supply the Ukrainians with weapons and aid to combat Russian aircraft, and we should continue to explore what Poland was proposing with the MIGs and transfer them to Ukraine."
Omar Bah, another Democratic candidate for the seat being vacated by Jim Langevin said in a phone interview with GoLocal that he believes that more pressure needs to be put on Russia's Vladimir Putin and that it is critical that America works to ensure that China too puts pressure on Russia. Bah, a former refugee himself said he believed a NATO and American sponsored no-fly zone could create a conflict situation between the West and Rusia that could start WWIII.
None of the announced Republican candidates would respond. Allan Fung, Bob Lancia, and Jessica de la Cruz all refused repeated requests for comment.
