The Brown Bears men’s basketball team made just seven of 26 three-pointers en route to a 79-63 loss to the Stony Brook Seawolves on Saturday night at Island Federal Arena in Stony Brook, New York.

Meanwhile, the Seawolves knocked down 14-of-25 threes in the game.

"Defensively, we didn't do a good enough job contesting their shooters on the perimeter and offensively, we weren't as good as we needed to be with our execution. They deserve a lot of credit for both of those issues, but we need to be better,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

Brown falls to 5-4 on the season, while Stony Brook improves to 7-3.

Brown Can’t Keep Pace in 2nd Half

Trailing by six at the half, the Bears got within four, 36-32, on a layup by Tamenang Choh in the opening minute of the second half.

From there, Stony Brook’s three-point shooting took over.

Sparked by a three from Andrew Garcia, the Seawolves went on a 10-2 run to take a 46-34 lead with 14:22 left in the game.

Brown would get within nine on two different occasions, the last time coming on a dunk by Choh with 11:21 left to make the score 51-42.

That is as close as Brown would get.

Stony Brook would go on a 15-7 run to take a 66-49 lead with just under seven minutes to play.

They would lead by as much as 20 points before cruising to the 79-63 win.

Choh led the Bears with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Brandon Anderson added 13 points and dished out seven assists.

Fast Start for Bears

While Stony Brook was connecting on threes from the opening tip, it was the Bears that got off to a fast start on the road.

Brown jumped out to a 20-10 lead on a jumper by Choh with 12 minutes left in the opening frame.

From there, the Seawolves took over in the first half.

Sparked by a layup from Elijah Olaniyi, Stony Brook went on a 12-2 run to tie the game at 22 with just over five minutes to play.

With the game tied at 25, Stony Brook’s Makale Foreman knocked down a three to give the Seawolves a 28-25 lead with 3:07 to play.

Brown would only score two more points the rest of the half as the Seawolves would take a 33-27 lead into the locker room.

Over the last 12 minutes of the half, the Seawolves outscored Brown 23-7.
