Brown Lacrosse Faces Former Coach Tiffany & #12 Virginia Sunday

Lars Tiffany coached Brown to the NCAA Final Four
The Brown Bears men’s lacrosse team will face former head coach Lars Tiffany and the #12 Virginia Cavaliers on Sunday.

Tiffany coached Brown for ten seasons, including taking the program to the NCAA Final Four in 2016, before leaving for the Virginia job.

Game time is set for 12 noon on Sunday, March 10 at Virginia.

Brown Lacrosse under Tiffany

Tiffany led the Bears to the NCAA Final Four this season where they lost to Maryland in the semifinal. Brown compiled a 16-3 record this season, a program record. 

In 10 seasons with the Bears, Tiffany led the program to Ivy League regular season titles in 2008, 2010, 2015 and 2016 as well as NCAA Championship berths in 2009, 2015 and 2016. 

Tiffany was named the New England Coach of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2015 and 2016 and earned Ivy League Coach of the Year honors in 2015 and 2016. 

Tiffany graduated from Brown University in 1990 and was a two-time captain and starter on defense for three years. Tiffany played on two Brown teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament and was named MVP of the Brown team that won the program's first-ever NCAA playoff victory in 1990. 

Virginia was 12-6 under Tiffany in 2017-18.

Brown Lacrosse This Season

The Bears are 2-1 so far on the season and coming off a 14-13 overtime win over the UMBC Golden Retrievers.

Brown's attack is led by Luke McCaleb who has 16 points (10 goals, 6 assists) in three games this season.

He scored a career-high five goals in the Bears' win over UMBC.

Brown goalie Phil Goss is expected to be named to the 2019 Tewaaraton Award Watch List.

He recorded eight saves in Brown's season-opening win over Quinnipiac and had nine saves in a win over UMBC.
