Brown Wins at Penn 82-70, Spieth and Anderson Lead the Way

Steven Spieth poured in 20 points and Brandon Anderson added 21 to lead the Brown Bears to an 82-70 win over Penn on Saturday night in Pennsylvania. 

The win improves Brown to 10-8 overall and 1-1 in Ivy League play. Penn drops to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in the Ivy League.

After leading by as much as eight points in the second half, Penn’s Max Rothschild converted a layup to cut Brown’s lead to two, 62-60 with 7:43 left in the half. 

From that point, the Bears would go on an 11-2 run capped off by a JR Hobbie three to take a 73-62 lead with 2:14 to play in the game. 

Penn would not get closer than nine the rest of the way as the Bears would hit 7 of their 8 free throws in the final 1:30 to seal the win. 

The Leaders 

Anderson led Brown with 21 points on 5 of 10 shooting from the field and 10 of 11 from the free throw line. 

Spieth’s 20 points came on 7 of 9 shooting from the field and 6 of 6 from the free throw line.

The Bears return to action Friday, January 20 when they host defending Ivy League champion Yale at the Pizzitola Center.
