Brown Women's Basketball Wins Inaugural Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament

The Brown Bears women’s basketball team defeated the Providence College Friars 77-70 to win the inaugural Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament  on Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Center. Overall, Brown has won three straight games and is 5-3 on the season. 

The Friars suffer their first loss of the season, dropping to 7-1 overall. 

The Championship Game

Brown led Providence 70-67 with 36 seconds to play in the game, before closing on a 7-3 run to come away with a 77-70 win over the Friars. 

The Friars led 22-14 at the half. 

The Bears were led by Taylor will, who poured in 22 points on 6 of 13 shooting from the field and 7 of 11 from the free throw line. 

The Friars were led by Jovana 'Yoyo' Nogic, who also poured in 22 points. 

Road to the Title Game 

For Brown, they advanced to the title game after beating Rhode Island 76-65 on Saturday afternoon. The Bears were led in the game by Erika Steeves, who poured in 22 points on 10 of 18 shooting from the field. 

For the Friars, they advanced to the title game following a 62-51 win over Bryant University on Saturday. The Friars were led by Allegra Botteghi and Clara Che, who each recorded 13 points in the game.
