PC Cruises Past In-State Rival Brown 95-57

Emmitt Hold led the friars with 20 points.
The Providence College Friars  shot 63% from the field for the game and 50% from three en route to a 95-57 win over in-state rival Brown on Tuesday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. PC has now won three straight games, while the Bears four-game winning streak is snapped.

"I just thought we were really dialed in defensively, and I thought our defensive tone and our speed with Kyron was able to get us out to an early start and we never looked back," said Providence head coach Ed Cooley in his post-game press conference.

"They are good, don't want to take anything away from them because it's nine games in which they have defended at a really good level, but I don't think they saw the best Brown team," said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

With the win, the Friars improve to 7-2 on the season, while Brown falls back to .500 at 5-5 overall.

Hot Shooting Leads to Huge PC Run

Brown's Brandon Anderson gave the Bears a 3-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game, but from there the Bears could not slow down the hot shooting of Providence.

PC would go on a 20-0 run sparked by three, three-pointers from Jalen Lindsey and one from Rodney Bullock.

"We have been susceptible to runs, and it's because we are not where we need to be defensively right now, and when our offense doesn't produce or turns it over, teams get basket's in transition and even in the half court," added Martin.

The Friars would go on to shoot 50% from three, 6 of 12, in the first half and 66% from the field en route to a 50-18 halftime lead.

In the second half, it was more of the same for Providence as they built their lead up to as much as 63-24 with 15:49 left to play in the game.

The Leaders

Emmitt Holt Lead the Friars with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in the game, while Bullock and Lindsey followed up with 16 points each.

The Bears were led by Obi Okolie, who poured in 16 points, while Travis Fuller added ten points off the bench.
