Brown Earns 4th Straight Win, Beating Central Connecticut 75-58

The Brown Bears defeated Central Connecticut St. 75-58 on Saturday afternoon in New Britain, Connecticut. The Bears have now won four straight games and improve to 5-4 on the season. 

"We did a better job defending on the ball and protecting the paint in the second half. We're winning games now but have to continue to get better,”  said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game. 

Central Connecticut falls to 2-4 on the season.

Brown Pulls Away 

After leading 37-34 at the half, the Bears opened the second half on a 10-4 run , capped off by a three-pointer from Obi Okolie to give Brown a 47-38 lead with 17 minutes left in the game. 

Central Connecticut would get as close as five points, 50-45, with 13:35 to play following  a Khalen Cumberland layup, but Brown would use  a quick 4-0 run to take a nine point lead back. 

From that point, Central Connecticut would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way. 

The Leaders 

The Bears were led by Tavon Blackmon who poured in 21 points on 4 of 5 shooting from the field, while dishing out four assists. 

Brandon Anderson and Steven Spieth each added 14 points. 

Next up 

Brown returns to action Tuesday, December 6 when they face in-state rival Providence at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. 

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
