Cambridge Pours in 30 Points, Brown Cruises Past Marist 78-53

Desmond Cambridge scored 30 points in Brown's win
Desmond Cambridge poured in 30 points to help the Brown Bears men’s basketball team cruise past Marist 78-53 on Saturday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Cambridge’s points came on 12 of 18 shooting from the field and 6 of 11 from three.

"Desmond is a special talent, who can make incredibly tough shots look easy," said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

Martin added, “We turned in a really good defensive performance throughout the entire 40 minutes. Once we got our offense going we were able to stretch the lead."

The win improves Brown to 8-4 on the season.

Brown Pulls Away

With the game tied at 17 with 6:15 left to play in the first half,  the Bears went on a 13-4 run sparked by an Obi Okolie three to take a 30-21 lead with 1:12 left in the half.

Marist would add three points on a layup and one by Austin Williams in the final 40 seconds to cut Browns lead to 30-24 at the break.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Cambridge took over scoring eight of the Bears first ten points.

Cambridge opened the half with a jumper to push Browns lead to 32-24.

The Bears would then lead 34-27 before Cambridge hit back-to-back threes to push Browns lead to 40-27 with 17:45 left to play.

Marist would never threaten the rest of the way as the Bears built as much as a 28 point lead, 69-41, on a three by Brandon Anderson with eight minutes to play.

Brown would cruise to the 25 point win.

Joshua Howard had 13 points, while Okolie added ten points.

Brown returns to action on Saturday, December 29 when they visit San Diego State.

Game time is set for 8 p.m. eastern time.
