This past year was a great one for college basketball in Rhode Island. It was one of the best and most exciting seasons in recent history.

This year saw the Bryant Bulldogs win their first ever Division I post season game, beating Sacred Heart in double OT.

Down at URI, Dan Hurley got the Rams back into the post season for the first time since 2010 and made it to the second round of the NIT before falling to Stanford out in California. After this season, Rhode Island college basketball fans have a lot to be excited about when it comes to the future of the URI Rams.

Meanwhile, the Providence College Friars got back to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and also got back into the national rankings for the first time since 2004.

It was a great college basketball season all around and 2015-16 can't come fast enough.

First Team Honors

With the success of the local college basketball teams, Rhode Islanders got the privilege of watching some great performances by some great players and for the All-Rhode Island Division I first Team, GoLocal narrowed it down to five players who really stood out this Season.

PC Guard Kris Dunn led the Big East in steals and assists and caught everyone's attention when he recorded a Triple-Double against DePaul in mid - January.

URI guard E.C. Matthews was named to the Bob Cousy Award watch list prior to the season and did not disappoint, scoring in double-figures in almost every game for Rhode Island this year.

Bryant guard Dyami Starks scored in double figures in every game, except two for the Bulldogs, and led them to their first division I post season win in school history.

PC forward Ladontae Henton graduates as the programs second all-time leading scorer behind Ryan Gomes and became the first Friar since Gomes to reach the 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds milestone.

Hassan Martin was a force both defensively and offensively for URI this year. Martin's season was highlighted by a near triple-double against La Salle in which he blocked ten shots in the game.

These five players gave basketball fans a lot to cheer about at various points in the season. Their performances have placed them on the 2014-15 GoLocalProv All-RI Division One first team.
