Langevine's Double-Double Leads URI Past Brown 71-51

Cyril Langevine poured in 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as the University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team cruised past in-state rival Brown University 71-51 on Wednesday night at the Ryan Center

Of Langevine’s 17 rebounds, 12 of them came on the offensive end.

“That was Rhode Island basketball. That’s the type of effort that Rhode fans have been used to. That’s the type of effort we need every game, every day,” said URI head coach David Cox after the game.

The win improves URI to 3-2 on the season, while Brown falls to 5-3 overall.

Rams Hold Off Bears

After leading by ten, 35-25, at the half, the Rams saw their lead cut to seven 35-28, early in the second half on a three by Brandon Anderson.

The Rams then went on a 9-2 run to take a 44-30 lead on a layup by Cyril Langevine with 14 minutes left to play.

Langevine led uRI with 19 points on 8 of 15 shooting from the field.

The Bears responded with a 9-1 run capped off by a Tamenang Choh jump shot to cut Rhode Island’s lead to 45-39 with 12 minutes remaining.

Choh led the Rams with 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the field.

However, the Rams would respond with a 16-4 run to take a 61-43 lead with 6:41 to play following two free throws by Dana Tate.

The Bears would not get closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
