The Bruins have now lost in two straight Stanley Cup Final appearances, dating back to 2013 when they fell to the Blackhawks in six games.

Bruins Fall to Blues

Despite carrying the play for the majority of the first period, the Bruins were unable to get on the board, resulting in chances for St. Louis.

The Blues would capitalize with four minutes left in the first period when O’Reilly deflected a Jay Bouwmeester shot past Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask to give St. Louis a 1-0 lead.

The Blues would add another goal in the final seconds of the period when Boston was caught on a bad change.

St. Louis’ Jaden Schwartz chipped the puck past Bruins forward David Pastrnak and then beat him to it along the boards.

Schwartz found Alex Pietrangelo in front of the net for the Blues’ second goal of the game.

All of this came despite Boston outshooting the Blues 12-4 in the first period.

After a scoreless second period, the Blues would add insurance in the third in the form of a Brayden Schenn goal to take a 3-0 lead.

Schenn’s goal came just minutes after Boston’s Joakim Nordstrom was robbed by St. Louis goaltender Jordan Bennington right in front of the net.

Pietrangelo would add another goal with five minutes left in the game to give the Blues a 4-0 lead.

Boston would get on the board with two minutes left in the game when defenseman Matt Grzelcyk found the back of the net.

The Bruins outshot the Blues 33-20 in the game, but could not get more than one goal.
