Boston and St. Louis met two times during the regular season.

The Bruins beat St. Louis 5-2 on January 17 in Boston, while the Blues beat the Bruins 2-1 in a shootout on February 23 in St. Louis.

The last time the two teams met in the playoffs was the 1970 Stanley Cup Final, when the Bobby Orr led Bruins swept the expansion St. Louis Blues to win the cup.

That was the last time the Blues made it to the Stanley Cup Final.
