Bruins Add 5 Players on Day 2 of NHL Draft

After not making a pick in the first round of the NHL Draft, the Boston Bruins added five players on day two of the draft on Saturday in Dallas. 

The Bruins did not have a first-round pick due to the trade with the New York Rangers for Rick Nash.

Boston got their draft started in round two when they picked Swedish defenseman Axel Andersson from Djugardens at 57th overall.

With Djugardeons, Andersson scored six goals and recorded 25 assists for a total of 31 points in 42 games.

 

In the third round, Boston took Czech center Jakub Lauko with the 77th overall pick.

Lauko played for Team Czech in the World Junior Tournament this past season.

In 2017-18 with Pirati Chomutov in the Czech Extraliga, Lauko recorded three goals and six assists in 42 games.

He scored two goals in 28 games during the 2016-17 season.

 

In the fourth round, Boston took Yale commit Curtis Hall with the 119th overall pick.

Hall is a 6-foot-3 center who netted 13 goals and recorded 31 points in 54 games last season with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL.

Hall will attend Yale next season.

 

In the sixth round, the Bruins picked defenseman Dustin McFaul out of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

McFaul is 6’2” 188 pounds and will play at Clarkson University.

 

With their final pick, Boston selected forward Pavel Shen at number 212 overall.

Shen played 29 games in the KHL last season and scored 12 goals and recorded 14 assists.
