Patriots Sign Receiver Reggie Wayne to One-Year Deal

The New England Patriots have signed wide receiver Reggie Wayne to a one year deal, according to reports. Terms of the deal have not been released. Wayne, 36, is entering his 15th NFL season after being drafted 30th overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 2001. Wayne has played his entire career with Colts up to this point.

Last season with Indy, Reggie Wayne had 64 receptions for 774 yards and two touchdowns but was not targeted once in the AFC Championship game against the Patriots. Indianapolis announced in March that they would not resign him.

In his 14 year NFL career, Wayne made two Super Bowl appearances with the Colts, winning his first one in 2006 before losing to the Saints in 2009.

Reggie Wayne has 1070 career receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdown catches. Wayne has had eight seasons in which he has over 1,000 yards receiving, and four seasons with at least 100 catches.

New England Patriots

The Patriots sign Wayne at a time of need as Brandon LaFell is still on PUP and Julian Edelman has been out since August 2 with a leg injury.

New England is through two preseason games and are getting set for the the third one which comes on Friday night in Carolina against the Panthers.
