He chose Providence over Houston, Kansas, LSU, South Carolina, and Ohio State.

Some rating services have him as a 4-star recruit and others as a 5-star — regardless, Jones is one of the highest-ranked recruits ever to commit to PC.

This is the first mega-recruit by Kim English, and with the collection of talent portal transfers, it give the Friars maybe one of the most talented squads in its history.

“I committed to Providence because everything thing they've been telling me sounds good and they're loyal,” Jones said, according to 24/7 Sports. “Coach English FaceTimes me before all my games and lets me know what I should do. I feel very confident on my decision.”

Friars, in recent weeks, announced the addition of four key strategic additions through said Portal. They are Christ Essandoko, 7’0”, 275lb Center from St.Joseph’s; Joseph Bensley, 6’2”, 195lb Guard from U of Miami; Jabri Abdur-Rahim, 6’8”, 220lb, from U of Georgia; and Wesley Cardet Jr. of Chicago State.
