Princeton Runs Past Brown 53-0 in Ivy League Action

Brown Falls to Princeton 53-0
The Brown Bears football team got shut out by the Princeton Tigers 53-0 on Saturday at Brown Stadium.

With the loss, Brown drops to 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Ivy League.

Princeton improves to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the Ivy League.

Princeton Runs Past Brown

Leading 3-0 in the first quarter, Princeton’s Charlie Volker added to the Tigers lead with a 10-yard touchdown run to give Princeton a 9-0 lead after the extra point from kicker Tavish Rice missed.

Volker would add another touchdown with 1:11 left in the quarter to put Princeton up 16-0 following the extra point by Rice.

In the second quarter, it was more Volker.

With nine minutes left in the half, Volker took a handoff and ran eight yards into the end zone to put Princeton up 22-0 after the Tigers’ two-point conversion try failed.

Volker would strike one more time with 5:18 left in the half.

He would take a handoff from nearly his own goal line and go 96 yards to the Brown end zone to give Princeton a 29-0 lead after the extra point.

Overall, Volker carried the ball 16 times for 163 yards and four touchdowns in the game.

The Tigers would add four more touchdowns in the second half and cruise to the 53-0 win.

Brown Offense Struggles

On the day, the Bears only managed 170 yards of total offense, gaining an average of three yards per play.

In total, Brown only picked up 12 first downs and went 5 for 15 on third down.

Starting quarterback Thomas Linta completed 7 of 12 passes for 55 yards while rushing three times for -12 yards.

Brown returns to action on Saturday, October 21 when they visit Cornell.

Kick-off is set for 3 p.m.
