Five Takeaways From URI's 81-68 Win Over Saint Louis
E.C. Matthews
E.C. Matthews missed out on reaching double figures for only the fourth time this season only registering eight points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field.
URI didn't need him in this game as Terrell carried the load but there are some major games left on the schedule and URI fans should trust that E.C. Matthews will be ready.
Hassan Martin
Hassan Martin registered 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, pulled down five rebounds and blocked three shots in the game.
This is the 15th time this season that Martin has found himself in double-figures, including in three of the last four.
Martin also registered his 150th blocked shot of his career and is now in third all time in URI history behind Kenny Green and Antonio Reynolds-Dean.
Jared Terrell
Jared Terrell led the Rams with a career high 23 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the field and 11-of-12 from the free throw line.
Terrell's previous career high was 19 points and that came against St. Bonaventure in late January.
Jared Terrell has been in double figures in four of the last six games for URI.
Terrell also pulled down five rebounds, dished out two assists and had two steals for Rhode Island in the win.
Turnovers
URI's defense forced Saint Louis into 22 turnovers in the game...22!
Off of those turnovers, URI cashed in for 32 points while the Rams only turned it over 10 times, giving Saint Louis 16 points.
URI's defense gave Saint Louis all sorts of problems and it shows in the turnovers.
On to UMass
URI head coach Dan Hurley has the Rams in a four way tie for first place in the A-10 with a 9-3 record.
One of the teams that the Rams are tied with is the UMass Minutemen and it just so happens the Rams next game is against the Minutemen on Wednesday night at the Ryan Center.
URI lost 60-56 in the first meeting with UMass so winning on Wednesday night is crucial.
