URI's Terrell Named A - 10 Rookie of the Week

Jared Terrell
URI freshman Jared Terrell has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after he led the Rams in scoring in two consecutive games, both URI wins.

Terrell has averaged 17.5 points, four rebounds and four steals and is shooting 55 percent from the floor and 91 percent from the free throw line.

In URI's last game against George Washington, Terrell netted 13 of his 17 points in the second half and totaled a season high six steals in the game.

With E.C. Matthews having been a bit banged up over the last couple of games, URI has needed others to step up and Terrell has done just that, averaging 17 points over the last three games, including a career high 19 points against St. Bonaventure.

Terrell averages 9.6 points per game on the season which is good enough for sixth best among freshmen scoring in the A - 10.

The Rams are currently riding a four game winning streak and are 15 - 5 overall and 7 - 2 in conference play. URI returns to action on Sunday, February 8 when they visit the Richmond Spiders. Tip - off is set for 2:30 p.m.

The game can be seen on the NBC Sports Network.
