First Quarter Blowout
URI (10-2, 8-0 CAA Football) got all the scoring it needed in the first quarter, using an explosive start to take control early. The Rams struck immediately after the defense held Hampton (2-10, 0-8 CAA Football) to a three-and-out on the opening possession. On second down, Antwain Littleton, Jr. ripped off a 65-yard touchdown run down the right sideline, giving URI the lead less than three minutes into the game.
The situation repeated itself minutes later. Rhody's defense forced another three-and-out, and the offense drove 70 yards in five plays for another touchdown. One snap after a 31-yard pass from Devinn Farrell to Greg Gaines III, Brendon Barrow broke off a 28-yard touchdown run as URI pulled ahead, 14-0 just seven into the game.
By the end of the quarter, Littleton had added his second touchdown of the day, and the Rams had a 21-0 lead that was not challenged the rest of the way.
