URI Football Falls to #2 James Madison 55-21, Winless in the Conference

The URI Rams football team fell to #2 James Madison 55-21 in their final regular-season game on Saturday afternoon at Meade Stadium.

The Rams finish the season with a record of 2-10 on the year, while James Madison moves to 11-1 overall.

After James Madison opened the game with a field goal, they would add to their lead when quarterback Ben DiNucci connected with Riley Stapleton for a one-yard touchdown pass to take a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the opening minutes of the second quarter, James Madison’s D’Angelo Amos returned a URI punt 85-yards for a touchdown to make the score 17-0.

Later in the quarter, James Madison would add to their lead on a four-yard run by Agyei-Obese to make the score 24-0.

With three minutes left in the half, James Madison’s Jason Hamilton broke a 44-yard touchdown run to make the score 31-0.

The Rams scored 21 points in the second half, but were never in the game.

James Madison cruised to the win.

Parker’s Last Game

Saturday was the final game for URI star receiver Aaron Parker.

Parker had five catches for 66 yards and a touchdown in the game.

His touchdown catch was the 30th of his career, making him the third player in program history to reach the mark.

The others were Dameon Reilly (38 from 1983-85) and Brian Forster (32 from 1983-85, 87).

Parker finished his career with 216 receptions for 3,460 yards. Both figures rank second in program history.
