URI Football Drops to #23 in National Poll

URI football drops to #23 in national poll.
The University of Rhode Island football team dropped to #23 in the country in the latest AFCA FCS Coaches Poll released on Monday.

The Rams received 129 points this week to finish one spot behind Nicholls and one spot ahead of Dartmouth.

This is the fifth straight week in which the Rams have been ranked after being ranked as low as 15th last week.

URI This Season

The Rams are currently 4-2 on the season following a 38-36 loss to #20 Maine on Saturday afternoon at Meade Stadium.

In the game, Rhode Island had a 36-35 lead with 51 seconds to play, but were unable to come up with a stop on defense.

Prior to that, the Rams defeated in-state rival Brown 48-0 to win the Governor’s Cup.

Rhode Island opened up the season by edging #15 Delaware 21-19 on the road and then beating Albany 45-26 the following week.

Following the loss to Connecticut, the Rams bounced back by beating Harvard 23-16.

Next Up 

URI returns to action on Saturday, October 20 when they visit Stony Brook.
