NEW: URI Football Climbs to #15 in National Poll

URI Football climbs to 15th in national poll
The University of Rhode Island football team climbed to 15th in the country in the latest AFCA FCS Coaches Poll released on Monday.

The Rams received 283 points this week to finish one spot behind Sam Houston St. and one spot ahead of Central Arkansas.

This is the fourth straight week in which the Rams have moved up in the polls after being ranked 17th last week.

URI This Season

The Rams are currently 4-1 on the season following a 48-0 victory over in-state rival Brown to win the Governor’s Cup on Saturday.

URI opened up the season by edging #15 Delaware 21-19 on the road and then beating Albany 45-26 the following week.

Rhode Island’s only loss came in a road game against Connecticut.

Following the loss to Connecticut, the Rams bounced back by beating Harvard 23-16.

Next up

The Rams also return to action on Saturday, October 13 when they visit Maine.

Game time is set for 12 p.m.
