0-3 URI Football Set to Battle Stony Brook Saturday Night

The University of Rhode Island football team is back at Meade Stadium Saturday night to host the Stony Brook Seawolves.

URI is 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in conference, while Stony Brook comes in with a record of 3-1 overall.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.

URI vs Stony Brook

Saturday night will be the seventh all-time meeting between the two programs, with Stony Brook winning all six of the previous contests.

Last season, the Rams fell to Stony Brook 52-14.

URI Offense

Rhode Island quarterback Vito Priore ranks third among all FCS quarterbacks with 344.3 passing yards per game on the season.

Through three games, Priore has topped 1,000 passing yards, entering Saturday with 1,033 yards on the year.

He had 312 last week at New Hampshire, 430 against Delaware on Sept. 7 and 310 against Brown last season.

When it comes to the running game, URI is lead by Zoe Bryant Jr., who has 57 rushes for 203 yards and a touchdown on the year.

Other than Priore, the passing game has been carried by Aaron Parker, who has hauled in 30 passes for 515 yards and two touchdowns on the year.

Isaiah Coulter follows up with 17 catches for 235 yards and two touchdowns on the year.

URI Defense

The Rams defense is led by senior safety Momodou Mbye, who has recorded one interception in each of the first three games.

Mbye leads the country with an average of one interception per game and is just one of six players nationally with three interceptions.

The Rhode Island defense will also look to defensive end Tez Wilson who has 160 career tackles.

On defense as a whole, URI has already recorded five interceptions and one fumble recovery.
