Without Anderson, Brown Basketball Falls to UMass Lowell 75-63

Brown falls to UMass Lowell
The Brown Bears men’s basketball team fell to UMass Lowell River Hawks 75-63 on Tuesday night in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The Bears were without star player Brandon Anderson, who missed the game due to injury.

Anderson is currently the eighth leading scorer in the country, averaging 24 points per game.

In his place, freshman Dan Friday got the start and poured in a season-high 13 points.

"Unfortunately, we didn't finish either the first half or the game well and those two stretches were enough to be the difference in the game. We will get back to work and be ready for our next game,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

The loss drops the Bears to 4-2 overall, while UMass Lowell improves to 3-5 on the year.

Brown Falls to UMass Lowell

After leading by two at the half, 39-37, the Bears held a 57-56 lead with 7:14 remain gin in the game following a free throw and three-pointer from Friday.

From there, UMass Lowell went on a 7-0 run capped off by a three from Ron Mitchell to take a 63-57 lead with 5:36 to play in the game.

The Bears would rally to get within three, 66-63, on a three from Josh Howard with 4:28 to play in the game.

However, Brown would not score again in the game.

The River Hawks closed the game on a 9-0 run to seal the 75-63 win.

In the game, Brown outrebounded the River Hawks 42-32, however, they struggled shooting from three.

The Bears knocked down just four of 20 threes in the contest, while UMass Lowell connected on 9 of 18 shots from long range.

Next Up

Brown returns to action on Saturday, November 30 when they host Navy at the Pizzitola Center.

Game time is set for 4 p.m.
