The Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket announced that Amy Gonsalves will be appointed to the newly created position of Associate Executive Director, as part of the Club’s succession plan to affirm a smooth transition to current CEO Jim Hoyt’s retirement. Upon Hoyt’s retirement, Gonsalves will become the first woman CEO of the Club in its 125-year history and will begin her new role in January 2026.

 

In the interim, Gonsalves will work in tandem with ]Hoyt to continue the commitment, mission and vision, that the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket has become renowned for in Pawtucket and surrounding communities. The Board of Directors, Club Staff, and the community at large are all excited about the unequivocal opportunities ahead for the Club, ensuring its stability, continued support to the youth and families served.

 

Board President Joe Fleming said, “In the past 5 years, Ms. Gonsalves has performed an outstanding job as Director of Development and Communications at the Club. She has demonstrated a strong belief in the Club’s Mission and has worked to carry out that mission with remarkable success. Ms. Gonsalves has demonstrated strong leadership, collaborating closely with the Club’s Board of directors, CEO Jim Hoyt, and the dedicated staff. She has earned the respect of the Club’s community, staff, and Board of Directors. She is enthusiastically committed to the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket and the youth and families we serve every day. I believe, and the Board believes, that she will do an outstanding job succeeding Jim Hoyt as CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket.”

Amy leads with empathy, integrity and humility. Over the past five years, in her role as Director of Development and Communications, she has clearly demonstrated these leadership qualities with a proven track record of building relationships and expanding support both internally and externally. With a deep understanding of the Club’s Mission and values, I know Amy will drive continuing success through innovation, strengthening the Club’s future and expanding impact.”

 

Gonsalves joined the Club as Director of Development & Communications in March 2020, continuing her career as a dedicated fundraiser and communications professional for nonprofit organizations supporting youth and families. She studied Journalism and Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and wrote for the Boston Globe during her undergraduate years. Upon graduation, she worked for WHDH - Boston (the NBC affiliate at the time). Realizing the true impact nonprofit work can have on a community, Gonsalves left the news industry and accepted a position as Development & Communications Specialist for The Genesis Foundation for Children in May 2015 and served until August 2016. She moved to the Kennedy Donovan Center as Foundation & Communications Manager in 2016 and then became Director of Development at the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in December 2019.
