11-Year-Old Robbed at Knifepoint of Fifty Cents in Providence

An 11-year-old told Providence Police that he was robbed at knife-point when he got off his school bus on Monday. 

According to the victim, the suspect repeatedly threatened him with a knife - before stealing fifty cents.

About Incident 

Police say that shortly after 4 PM on Monday, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the District 5 substation on Magnolia Street.

The victim, an 11-year-old boy, told police he had been dropped off on Progress Avenue when a man approached him, grabbed him by the shirt, and demanded “all his money.” 

The male suspect then took out a pocketknife and held it against him and searched his pockets, said the victim. 

The victim said the suspect stole two quarters from him before someone nearby witnessed the altercation, at which time the victim said he was able to get away from the man. 

Police are currently investigating.
