Couple Assaulted, Pistol-Whipped, and Robbed in Fox Point in Providence

A couple reported being robbed at gunpoint in Fox Point in Providence over the weekend. 

The victims told police they had left a bar on the waterfront to return to their car when the assault took place.

About Incident 

Police responded to a Bridge Street for a report of a robbery shortly after 2 AM Sunday morning. 

When police got to the scene, the male victim said he had left a bar in the area along with his girlfriend, and the pair was heading toward Tockwotten Street to go to their car.

The victim said that while on Bridge Street, an individual approached him and wrestled him to the ground trying to grab his necklace — and threatened him with a gun. 

According to the victim, his girlfriend tried to help him when she was hit in the head with the suspect’s firearm. 

The suspect then reportedly took off with the victim’s jewelry. 

Multiple police units responded to the scene; detectives are currently investigating.
