About Incident

Shortly after 3 PM on Wednesday, police were called to the area of Governor and John Streets for a report of a robbery at knifepoint.

Police say they met with a female victim, who said she had arrived home a short while earlier with her husband and children, who had gone inside the house.

She said she was approached while she was next to her vehicle by a man wearing a ski mask, who asked her if she had seen his dog.

The victim said the man then chased her with a knife and grabbed her purse, at which time she yelled and fell to the ground.

The suspect reportedly ran into the victim’s car and tried to take the vehicle, but was unable to operate it.

He then fled the scene on foot.

Suspect Apprehended

A suspect matching the description was apprehended and arrested a short while later at Gano Street Park, say police.

He was later identified as Joseph Hansen, age 28.

According to police, a jacket matching the suspect's description, along with a knife and garden shears, were found nearby on Williams Street.
