Man Found Bleeding on the Steps at Providence City Hall - Stabbed in Chest

Providence Police responded to a report of a man stabbed in the city Saturday night — who was bleeding on the steps of City Hall when police arrived. 

It was one of several crimes that occurred near Kennedy Plaza that evening.

About Incident

Shortly after 9:30 PM Saturday night, police received a call of a stabbing at 25 Dorrance Street — Providence City Hall. 

Police say that when they arrived, they found a man bleeding from a stab wound to his chest; he was transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital with severe injuries.

According to police, while at the scene, they also encountered a man who appeared to have overdosed.

Police administered Narcan before the individual was transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital. 

Police say they were unable to gather information from either man at the scene due to their condition.

At the scene, a male witness told police he had observed a fight break out and when he went to break it up, he was punched in the face.  

Police say that they currently have two suspects in custody — a man and a woman.

Detectives are continuing to investigate.
