National Weather Service Lowers Forecast for Snowfall, More Snow This Week

The National Weather Service has lowered its forecast for Tuesday’s storm for the Providence metro area from 8-12 inches to 6-10 inches.

As of 7:00 AM on Tuesday morning, 2 inches have fallen.

NWS is flagging that a second storm is likely for Thursday night and that there is the possibility of a third snowfall on Saturday.

Snow, possibly mixed with rain, becomes all snow after 9 am. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 34. Northeast wind 7 to 12 mph, increasing to 13 to 18 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches is possible.

Sunny, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.
