Second Bank Robbery at a Santander in RI Reported in Two Days

Cranston police are reporting a bank robbery -- along with a suspect photo -- that took place at a Santander Bank on Thursday.

The report comes just days after Providence police responded to a report of a bank robbery at a Santander on the East Side

Cranston police did not respond to request for comment if the two are potentially linked.

About Cranston Robbery

On Thursday, Colonel Michael J. Winquist, Chief of the Cranston Police Department, announced that members of the Cranston Police Criminal Investigation Unit and Bureau of Criminal Identification are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at approximately 1:50 pm, at Santander Bank located at 555 Reservoir Avenue. 

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’9”, with black glasses. The suspect passed a note and was able to leave the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. A search of the area by members of the Patrol Division and K-9 Unit proved negative for the suspect.

Cranston Photo Similar to Providence Description

On Tuesday, the bank teller in Providence told police the suspect in that robbery was a white male with a black jacket, black pants, gray shoes, blue/green knit hat, dark-colored hair, sunglasses with red frame and wearing black gloves.

The photo provided by Cranston polices shows a white male - in a blue-green knit cap.
