According to Warwick Police records, on September 14, 2024, at approximately 2:40 PM, Officers of the Warwick Police Department were dispatched to Sam’s Inn, 2227 West Shore Rd., for the report of a motor vehicle accident.
"Officers determined that a 2013 Lexus operated by a 24-year-old female had struck an occupied vehicle in front of the Shell gas station, 2411 West Shore Rd. The Lexus then struck an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot of the gas station and continued into the parking lot of Sam’s Inn, where it struck two unoccupied vehicles before colliding with the exterior refrigeration unit of Sam’s Inn. Both operators were checked at the scene by Warwick Fire/Rescue personnel, no significant injuries were reported. The 24-year-old female operator of the Lexus was transported to Kent County Memorial Hospital as a precaution," according to Warwick Police.
The accident caused a gas line to rupture at Sam’s Inn, which resulted in the restaurant being evacuated. The gas to the building was shut off and RI Energy responded to the scene to make the necessary repairs. There are no charges at this time. The accident is being investigated by the Warwick Police Traffic Division.
