Bryant hosts Central Connecticut on Saturday
The first-place Bryant Bulldogs football team returns home on Saturday to host the defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champion Central Connecticut at Beirne Stadium.

The Bulldogs enter the game with a record of 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NEC after a win over Duquesne last week, while Central Connecticut comes in with a record of 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the NEC.

"They are a very good team this year, they had a terrific start to the year, the whole league is getting better and central is a very good representation of that. They are better this year than last," Bryant head coach James Perry told GoLocalProv.

Bryant vs Central Connecticut

Saturday’s game will be the 11th meeting between the two programs all time, with Central Connecticut holding a 6-4 series lead

Last season, the Bulldogs pulled within three points, 17-14, in the third quarter, but a 76-yard touchdown run by Central Connecticut’s Drew Jean-Guillaume helped seal a Blue Devils 31-14 win.

Bryant Offense

The Bulldogs offense enters the contest putting up an average of 33.8 points per game and 429 total yards per game.

The Bryant offense is led by quarterback Price Wilson, who ranks second in the country with 15 touchdown passes, seventh in completions per game with 25.8 and 10th in yards per game with 289.

"It is fun to watch him, we got him a year ago as a transfer and he has worked extremely hard to have command of the offense which he does. He has worked hard toaster the mental aspect of the game and this will be another opportunity to show it," said Perry.

So far this season, Wilson has connected on 130 of 196 passes for 1,445 yards and 15 touchdowns to go along with six interceptions.

The running attack is led by senior Brenden Femiano, who has rushed 71 times for 330 yards and a touchdown so far this season.

Jean Constant leads the wide receiver corps with 23 catches for 265 yards and six touchdowns, while senior Vincent Nisivoccia has hauled in 21 catches for 293 yards and three touchdowns.

Bryant Defense

On defense, the Bulldogs are led by senior linebacker Thomas Costigan, who was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week after racking up seven tackles, two sacks, and recovering a fumble last week.

Costigan leads the NEC in tackles with 49 and also has three sacks and 5.5 tackles for a loss.

“He is a captain and he is as good a player as you are gonna get as the FCS level. What is fun this year is Tomas wright playing on the other side and they kind of just feed off each other,” said Perry.

Wright posted three sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss last week and is now the national leader in both categories.

Robert Brown is also coming off a big game in which he posted seven tackles, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
