Late Game Struggles Doom Brown, Fall 57-49 to Cornell

Brown led a 49-47 with with 3:31 left after a free throw from Kuakumensah but then did not score the rest of the game. Cornell went on a 10-0 run over the final few minutes to win the game 57-49. Brown did not have one field goal over the last seven minutes of the game.

Cornell was led by Devin Cherry and Galai Cancer who each netted 11 points in the win.
Brown returns to action on Saturday, January 31 when they visit Columbia. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Five Takeaways From Brown's 57-49 Loss to Cornell
Tavon Blackmon
Tavon Blackmon led the Brown Bears with 14 points in the game however he only shot 4-of-14 from the field.
However, Blackmon only grabbed two rebounds and dished out three assists for Brown combined with the fact he turned the ball over four times in the game.
Blackmon has been in double-figure scoring in four of the last five games for the Bears but it feels like he is not doing enough of the other things to help the team win.
King Leaves Program
Brown University and the Brown men's basketball team announced that sophomore forward Leland King has left the team for personal reasons.
Leland King was the Brown's leading scorer this season averaging 14.6 points per game and shooting just under 50% percent from the field.
This is a huge loss for Brown and it becomes more and more evident as the team struggles to score in key situations.
Cedric Kuakumensah
Brown needs help scoring especially with Leland King not returning to the team and their big man, Cedric Kuakumensah, has not done his part.
In the three conference games Brown has played so far, Kuakumensah netted 5, 2, and 3 points in the games and shot a combined 2-for-18 from the field. Kuakumensah has not made a shot from the field in two games.
On the defensive end, Kuakumensah has not done a great job of rebounding only grabbing 3,4, and 6 rebounds over the last three games.
Throughout the season, Cedric Kuakumensah has pulled some disappearing acts and it seems like this is an extended one.
Turnovers
Rafael Maia, Tavon Blackmon and Steven Spieth each had four turnovers in the game and the Bears as a team had 13 turnovers in the game.
Blackmon had more turnovers,4, then assists, 3, which is never a good sign for a point guard.
Cornell scored 13 points off of Browns turnovers.
Meanwhile, Cornell only turned the ball over five times and Brown netted four points off of those turnovers.
