Red Sox Cruise to 8-1 Win Over AL East Rival Baltimore

Dustin Pedroia drives in 4 runs in Red Sox win
Dustin Pedroia drove in four runs while Drew Pomeranz struck out six batters as the Boston Red Sox cruised past the Baltimore Orioles 8-1 on Tuesday night at Fenway Park. 

The Red Sox move to 4-3 on the season.

Leading 2-0 in the seventh, Dustin Pedroia hit a 2-run single straight up the middle to put the Red Sox in control up 4-0.  He would collect 4 RBIs in the game on two hits.

Pedroia would score a run of his own after Andrew Benintendi drove him in on an RBI double to put Boston up 5-1. 

Christian Vazquez added a two-run triple in the 8th inning to seal the win. Vazquez went 4-for-4 on the night. 

Pomeranz held Baltimore to just four hits in the game and carried a shutout into the 7th inning. The win is his first at Fenway Park. 

Series Continues 

The Red Sox and Orioles return for game two of the series on Wednesday, April 12. 

The pitching matchup is Steven Wright for Boston against Ubaldo Jimenez for Baltimore. 

First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
