Sale Reaches 300 Strikeouts, Red Sox Cruise Past Orioles 9-0

Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale reached 300 strikeouts for the season and the Boston Red Sox cruised past the Baltimore Orioles 9-0 on Wednesday night.

Sale becomes the first American League pitcher to reach the milestone since Pedro Martinez did it in 1999. He finished that season with 313 strikeouts.

In the game, Sale struck out 13 batters while giving up four hits and no walks to match his career high with 17 wins.

With the win, the Red Sox improve to 88-64 on the season. They maintain a three-game lead over the Yankees for first place in the AL East.

Red Sox Cruise Past Orioles

With the game scoreless in the fourth inning, Mookie Betts and Devin Marrero hit two-run home runs to give the Red Sox a 4-0 lead.

Hanley Ramirez hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to increase Boston’s lead to 6-0.

Dustin Pedroia hit a two-run double in the 8th and Boston would add another run in the 9th to cruise to the 9-0 win.

The Red Sox have won 11 of their last 14 games.

The Red Sox are off on Thursday, September 21 before returning to action Friday, September 22 against the Cincinnati Reds.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
