Sale Strikes Out 13 as Red Sox Beat Toronto 4-1 in 10 Innings

Chris Sale strikes out 13 in Red Sox win
Chris Sale struck out 13 in 8 innings and Mookie Betts hit a three run double in the 10th to propel the Red Sox to a 4-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. 

The Red Sox improve to 10-6 on the season.

With the game tied at 1 in the 10th inning, Boston’s Sandy Leon got a one-out walk from Toronto pitcher Jason Grilli, and Brock Holt to put two men on base. 

Andrew Benintendi drew a two out walk setting the stage for Betts. 

Betts, who was 0 for 3 in the game, hit a double down the left field line scoring three runs to give the Red Sox a 4-1 lead. 

Closer Craig Kimbrel came on in the bottom of the inning and earned the win. 

Next up Baltimore 

The Red Sox head to Baltimore for the start of a three game series on April 21. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. 

The pitching matchup is Boston’s Drew Pomeranz against Baltimore’s Alec Asher.
