Wright Gives up 8 Runs in 1 1/3 Innings as Red Sox Fall 12-5 to Baltimore

Steven Wright gave up eight runs in 1 1/3 innings on Wednesday night.
Pitcher Steven Wright gave up eight runs in 1 1/3 innings and the Boston Red Sox fell 12-5 to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night at Fenway Park. 

Wright gave up more runs in this game than he did all of last April. 

The Red Sox drop to 4-4 on the season.

Red Sox Can't Climb out of Early Hole 

Wright gave up eight runs on eight hits, including four home runs, in 1 1/3 innings pitched putting the Red Sox in an 8-0 hole after the first two innings. 

The Red Sox trailed 9-1 after three innings before getting their offense going in the bottom of the 4th. 

Hanley Ramirez doubled to left and would score a run following an Xander Bogaerts single to center. 

Boston's very next batter, Pablo Sandoval would hit a two run home run to left field to give the Red Sox their second and third runs of the inning. 

The Red Sox would add another run in the bottom of the fifth to cut their deficit to 9-5, but the Orioles would add three runs in the top of the 7th to put the game away. 

Boston would not score the rest of the way. 

Red Sox vs PIrates 

The Red Sox will host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday afternoon in a makeup game from last week. 

Eduardo Rodriguez will make the start for the Red Sox while Chad Kuhl will get the start for Pittsburgh. 

First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
