Red Sox Hold on

With the Red Sox leading 8-4 in the bottom of the 9th, Toronto’s Steve Pearce drove in Russell Martin with a single. After that, Ezequiel Carrera hit his first home run of the year, a two-run blast into the Blue Jays' bullpen in left field, to cut the Red Sox lead to just one, 8-7. However, Devon Travis popped out to shortstop to seal the Red Sox win.

The Red Sox started to build their lead during a three run third inning that saw Betts hit an RBI single. He would hit his first home run of the season in the 7th.

Mitch Moreland continued to have a hot bat for Boston, reaching base for the 12th straight game and driving in three runs in the game.

Pablo Sandoval also tallied three hits in the game. It is his first three hit game since 2015.

Series Continues

The Red Sox and Blue Jays continue their series on Wednesday, April 19 when Boston’s Rick Porcello faces Toronto’s Francisco Liriano.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
